Repent and Restore
From an early age, I understood that I was free to make my own decisions and that every choice carried consequences. I knew this as my conscience, an inner nudge toward what was right. As I grew older and deepened my faith, I realized this wasn’t just moral instinct; it was God’s will at work in me. He loves us enough to give us freedom, and He loves us enough to call us back when we misuse it. The books of Samuel show this clearly: God does not desire evil, yet He allows human choices, even when they lead us into painful places. But He never leaves us there. He confronts, invites repentance, and restores. God’s will is always good. Human beings are always free. And God is always ready to redeem.
When our choices lead us into shadows, God does not abandon us. He calls us back, not with shame, but with mercy, truth, and the promise of restoration. Repentance is not punishment; it is the pathway back to life. Samuel teaches us that God’s sovereignty works even through human failure, and His desire is always to restore what has been broken. The God who met Israel, Saul, and David in their failures is the same God who meets us today, ready to forgive, ready to heal, and ready to make whole whatever our choices have fractured.
