Week 490

Positive Post Sunday, July 19, 2026…. Week 490. The excuses for not getting to Mass can be as numerous and creative as a student explaining why their homework mysteriously vanished. We’ve all heard them; too tired, too busy, too much going on, not feeling it today, and the infamous – the dog ate my homework. But for attending Mass, the truth is simple: Missing Mass should be the excuse for missing everything else, not the other way around.

Attending Mass is a privilege where we step into the sacred moment where heaven touches earth, where Christ gives Himself fully, and where our souls receive what nothing else in this world can offer, the body and blood of Jesus. When we choose Mass, we choose grace over convenience, presence over distraction, and Communion over excuses. And every time we show up, God meets us there, faithfully, quietly, and completely.

One more thought. I don’t just “go to church” or “attend a service”, I choose to go to “Mass” to receive the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. Perhaps, if we really understood the transformation that occurs at each and every Mass, we would see it as an honor and privilege, not an obligation we squeeze into our schedule. For me, Mass is the anchor that holds the rest of my life in place.

How do you place Mass as a top priority in your daily life?

What are you willing to miss to experience the Eucharist?
