Week 494

Positive Post Sunday, August 16, 2026…. Week 494.

Begin Prayer with Praise
As we continue to read the Bible daily with Fr. Mike, we are reminded that in Scripture, the tribe of Judah was always sent first into battle. This wasn’t because they were the strongest or the most feared, it was because Judah means “praise.” God was teaching His people a pattern: even in conflict, even in uncertainty, even in times of need or moments that feel like a battlefield, begin with praise.

Praise shifts the heart. Praise reminds us of who goes before us. Praise declares that victory belongs to the Lord long before the first step is taken. We can carry this same truth into our prayer life. Before we bring our needs, our worries, our hopes, we lead with gratitude, thanking Him for the blessings already poured out, for the breath in our lungs, for the grace that meets us every morning.

When praise goes first, peace follows. When gratitude leads, faith grows. And when our hearts begin with honoring the Lord, everything we ask afterward is placed in the right light, under His goodness, His sovereignty, and His love. Start with praise, step with trust, and walk in His presence.

How do you lead with praise?

How do you place your gratitude and appreciation ahead of your wants when praying to our Lord?
