Read the Bible Daily
Thanks to Michele’s faithful example and gentle nudge, I began listening to the daily podcast “The Bible in a Year” with Fr. Mike Schmitz back in June. This daily podcast has become far more than a daily routine for me, it’s a pilgrimage through the heart of Scripture with my wife, revealing a God who keeps His promises, and who never stops calling us back to Him. It has truly become one of the most enriching parts of my day.
Fr. Mike’s daily podcast is a gift that helps us see the Bible not as a collection of disconnected events, but as a unified narrative of God’s relentless pursuit of His people. This journey through Scripture is opening my eyes not only to the individual stories in the Bible, but, as Fr. Mike loves to remind us, to the one great story woven through every book, chapter, and verse: Jesus loves us, and God desires that we live lives shaped by His Son.
Each day, he offers insights that deepen both my understanding and my faith. One example is Fr. Mike’s explanation of how once a blessing is given; it cannot be undone. He connected this to the Sacraments, especially Baptism. Even if someone walks away from the Church or stops believing, once Baptized, the mark of Baptism remains. God’s claim on us is permanent. His grace is not fragile. His covenant is not conditional.
May Michele and my journey of reading the Bible daily together with Fr. Mike continue to shape our understanding, deepen our faith, and remind us that we are forever His.
