The Bible is a Mirror for Correction
Here is yet another gem from Fr. Mike Schmitz. Each day, as I listen to Fr. Mike’s explanation of the daily scripture, I’m reminded that God’s Word does more than guide my steps, it shapes my heart. In a recent podcast, he reminded us that the Bible is not only a lamp for direction, but it is also a mirror for correction. It shows us where to walk, and just as lovingly, it shows us where we’ve wandered.
The beauty of God’s Word is that it never condemns to crush; it corrects to restore. Every verse invites us closer to the life God desires for us; a life aligned with His truth, His mercy, and His purpose. Daily reading becomes daily refining. Daily refining becomes daily growing. And daily growing becomes a life steadily transformed by the One who speaks through every page.
May we continue to read faithfully, allowing the Bible to direct our path and correct our course so we can walk more fully in His grace.
How do you experience the Bible as both a lamp for direction and a mirror for correction?
When you look in the mirror, how do you make the corrections needed to live a life like Jesus?
