Week 84

Positive post Sunday, September 23, 2018- Week 84.

You have likely seen the many Capital One commercials with the tagline “what’s in your wallet?”  I particularly like the ones with Samuel L. Jackson.  Well, this Sunday morning I ask a different question, “What’s in your heart?”  What we have in our wallets (credit cards, driver’s license, insurance card etc.) is important for our daily lives, but what we have in our hearts is critical for everlasting life.

Perhaps the real question is, “Do we live our lives based on what’s in our wallets or what’s in our hearts?”  Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a French writer, poet, aristocrat, journalist, and pioneering aviator who became a laureate of several of France’s highest literary awards and also won the U.S. National Book Award said it well, “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”  Guiding our lives by following our hearts with faith, rather than by what’s in our wallets, leads to a more meaningful and fulfilling life, and a clear path to everlasting life.
