Week 505

When God Becomes Your Algorithm
Teaching: When seeking direction in life, God should be our first source of guidance, not AI, social media, or popular opinion. Technology can offer information, but only God offers wisdom, truth, and peace. Through prayer, Scripture, and quiet listening, He guides us along the path He has prepared for us.
Story: As an avid cyclist, I regularly go online to research bike gear, and each time within minutes, my social media feeds and email fill with bike ads and recommendations. The algorithm quickly learned what interested me and kept sending me more.
That made me wonder: What if I allowed God to shape my life the way algorithms shape my feed?
So, each morning, instead of reaching for my phone, I reach out to God. When I spend a few quiet moments with Him, He fills my spiritual feed and my soul with grace. As I pray and reflect on His Word, I feel a deep sense of peace. The more time I spend in prayer, Scripture, and worship, the more aware I become of God’s presence and guidance.
Later I thought, “AI can learn my interests, but only God knows my purpose.” That is the difference. Algorithms shape our attention, but God shapes our hearts. One points us toward what we want; the other leads us toward who He created us to become.
Reflection:
If God were the algorithm shaping your day, what habit could you change so God’s voice influences your decisions more than social media, news feeds, or technology?
Before making the next important decision, how can you intentionally “ask God first” through prayer, Scripture, or quiet reflection before seeking answers from AI, the internet, or the opinions of others?
