Week 92
Positive post Sunday, November 18, 2018- Week 92.
Many of us have a tradition of sharing who or what we are thankful for at Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. This year, I once again have so much to be thankful for, especially my faith. I am thankful for having such a strong faith which gives me purpose and meaning in my life. Although at times we all search for answers to some of the challenges we face, I believe that God has a plan for all of us and I’m honored to follow the path he has set for me in my life.
Along with my faith, I am also thankful and truly blessed to have a loving family and many wonderful friends in my life. They are the foundation on which I live my life and carry out God’s will.
I am also deeply thankful for my freedom, something we should never take for granted. I am especially thankful for the past and present members of our armed forces who have made our freedom possible. Please join me in a moment of silence to recognize those who have given their lives so we can live ours freely.
Another thing we should not take for granted is our health. I am thankful for my health and for all those in health care, especially my friends at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society who tirelessly support patients and families dealing with blood cancers and raise funds for cancer research that will continue to lead to cures. Their work is clearly life changing. A special shout out and thanks to my colleague at SoCalGas Tim Gray, his tournament team and our many business partners who raised over $67,000 at our annual Turkey Shoot golf tournament this past Friday. My deepest thanks to all those who contributed.
Finally, I am thankful to be a part of the SoCalGas and Goodwill Industry families. On Thursday, my colleagues at SoCalGas served over 250 meals to Goodwill employees and community supporters at the San Bernardino campus. We saw firsthand how our friends at Goodwill truly, “Transform lives through the power of work”. Goodwill is FAR MORE than just the place you go to donate used goods. Serving the inspiring and dedicated employees at Goodwill, who would not have jobs without Goodwill, at the annual Thanksgiving lunch is an uplifting experience that has become an annual tradition for many SoCalGas employees. My deepest thanks to all who participated.
As we approach Thanksgiving, I reflect on how thankful I am to be blessed with a strong foundation of faith, loving family, true friends and generous and caring colleagues who recognize the value and importance of supporting our communities and do so with pride and passion. I am also reminded that we should give thanks not just on Thanksgiving, but on each and every day of our lives!
