Week 91
Positive post Sunday, November 11, 2018- Week 91.
Have you ever experienced a time when you put your heart and soul into something and the result didn’t turn out as you planned? Well, that’s exactly what Michele, our core campaign team Lisa Purcell-Rorick, Ron and Ann VanDamme and I experienced with our recent election. To say the result of the RUSD School Board election for area 2 was disappointing and shocking would be a major understatement. However, rather than focus on the negative, I choose to focus on the positive, after all this is my Positive Post Sunday!
We all experience challenges, setbacks and disappointments as we travel though our life journeys. When I think of those times in my life, like this election, two words come to mind, Character and Faith. I believe that how we manager through these tough times in our lives defines who we are. I would suggest that our TRUE character is best seen in our actions during our toughest experiences. I am so proud of Michele and how she has been managing through this difficult outcome. Although understandably very disappointed, she shared this final campaign statement, “I will continue to help and support the students, parents, teachers, staff and administrators in RUSD. My heart is still with our District!”. And, she was right back at it the morning after the election doing PTA work at McKinley, and on Thursday, leading the Redlands Community Scholarship Foundation Board meeting, a true servant leader.
We are so blessed to be a Family of Faith, with so many Friends of Faith! Faith is our foundation and what gets us through these tough times when we search for reasons and answers, asking the proverbial question, “Why did this happen?”. Our belief that all things happen for a reason and that, as our dear friend Diane Remy said to Michele, “God has other great works in store for you!”, keeps us focused on continuing to serve our family and community.
Our deepest and most sincere appreciation and thanks to all our family and friends who walked this journey with us and to all those who have sent thoughtful and heartfelt messages to Michele after the election. Although the outcome of this election did not match the amazing hard work and effort, we choose to focus on the important and guaranteed results shared by Mark Jennifer Conley and attached below.
God bless you all as we move into the Thanksgiving season!
