Week 89
Positive post Sunday, October 28, 2018- Week 89.
Do you believe in angels? I do! Experiencing the love of a true servant of God sent down to us from the good Lord is an amazing and uplifting experience. Well, our community just sent one back upstairs. Yesterday, we celebrated the life of a dear friend, amazing human being and true man of God, Christopher Thomas Hauso.
I have written often about “Servant Leaders” and Chris was the role model for all of us who aspire to be true servant leaders. There are countless examples of his uncanny ability to anticipate the needs of others (often when they didn’t even know they had a need) and the passion to help them without hesitation or being asked to help. A few of many examples that my family and I personally experienced included helping us find a new venue for our daughter’s wedding reception due to rain only a few days before the wedding and bringing food and drinks to us at the hospital when our twin granddaughters were born. In both situations, Chris did not call to ask if he could help, to which her would have gotten the standard response, no thanks, we’re ok, we don’t need help. Instead, he knew we needed help and what to do and just did it with no fanfare. Thanks to Chris, the wedding reception was amazing and better than originally planned and after being at the hospital for several hours without eating, wondering if our granddaughters would survive, the food and drinks helped us get through a very difficult day. In both cases, we were in crisis mode, and the good Lord sent Chris to help. Chris was one of the most generous people I have had the honor to know. We could clearly see God’s work through his service to others.
Chris’ legacy will live on in the hearts of all of us whose lives have been forever changed by his kindness, thoughtfulness and love, especially his wonderful wife Beth and their children Chris, Annie and Claire. They say that behind every strong man is an even stronger woman, and that is clearly the case here. Beth is an amazing woman and has been the foundation on which their family was built. And, their children are terrific young adults with the same passion for service and stewardship as their parents.
We are all much better people from having experienced Chris’ love and friendship. He was TRULY a role model for all men of faith. Please save a space for me upstairs Chris, I hope to earn it one day like you certainly have my friend. RIP until we meet again.
