Week 85

Positive post Sunday, September 30, 2018Week 85.

The Rendler tradition of hosting pro cyclists that win races is alive and well!  Michele and I hosted pro cyclists competing in the Redlands Bicycle Classic (RBC) for over 20 years.  The RBC is an internationally recognized road stage race and many of the cyclists that stayed at our house won stages, some won the overall race and a few went on to race in the Tour de France.  Due to all this success, our house became the place to stay if you wanted to win the race.

Well, fast forward a few years, and we find ourselves hosting pro cyclists who are on the podium again this year.  But there is one big difference, this time the race was in the mountains and on dirt, a mountain bike race in Big Bear called the Grizzly 100.

Congratulations Bryan Lewis for winning the 2018 Pro Open overall NUE mountain bike series, clinching it with a strong second place yesterday at the Big Bear Grizzly 100.  And congratulations to Gordon Wadsworth for finishing 1st in the single speed category and clinched the single speed overall NUE series, making this the 5th straight year.  These two top athletes crushed it all year long and throughout the country to take top honors among the who’s who of mountain bike racing.

One of my favorite things to remind pro cyclists is, “It’s not only what you do on the bike that matters”.  Let me assure you that, not only are Bryan and Gordon amazing cyclists, they are super young men who are terrific ambassadors for the sport of cycling.   Heck, they even cooked a 5 star chicken curry dish in our own kitchen that Wolfgang Puck would admire.  It was an honor to host two true winners both on and off the bike and share in their victories.  Travel safe guys!!
