Week 78
Positive post Sunday, August 12, 2018- Week 78.
Do you believe in karma, or better yet, that if we keep our eyes and hearts open, we can see how the Lord works through each and every one of us each day? Although we usually associate karma with bad things when we say, “that’s karma!”, as illustrated below, I believe karma can also be a positive experience.
Well, yesterday Michele Lomen Rendler and I took 3 of our grandchildren, Kendall, Nikole and Christian, to Universal Studios for their birthdays. Which I might note, cost a small fortune! Although we had to brave the heat, another day pushing 100 degrees in southern California, we had a great day. We spent most of the time in the world of Harry Potter where I learned about of all things “Hogwarts” and spells and very expensive pieces of plastic called interactive wands. The girls were very excited to be picked out of the crowd during the wizard show where the wizard tested wands for them and selected the ones just right for them, and afterwards for Christian….. Just right for us to buy that is😊.
After spending the morning in Harry Potter land, we stopped for lunch and sat outside Mr. Ping’s Noodles where we watched many park guests taking a picture with Mr. Ping. While eating, Michele noticed the park employee who was taking pictures for the park guests with Mr. Ping was looking overwhelmed by the heat, so she went over and bought some cold water, and gave it to him. This didn’t surprise me at all as Michele regularly reaches out to others in need. The park attendant was very surprised and appreciative.
Here’s where the karma and the Lord came in. After lunch and after shopping and walking around the park in the hot sun, we decided to go on a few rides before leaving. Unfortunately, at that time, the shortest wait time for all the rides was over an hour. We were very hot, standing in front of the sign that showed the long wait times for all the rides with the kids very disappointed and it looked like we were just going to have to call it a day. That’s when Andrew, one of the park attendants who had been watching us, came over! He asked us which ride was our favorite, and after some debate you would expect with three kids, we all agreed on Jurassic Park. That’s when Andrew said follow me, I’ll get you to the front of the line (karma, or sent from the Lord?), and that’s exactly what he did. He literally walked us right past an hour-long line to the front. We were on the ride in less than a minute. I thought we were being taped for a Honda commercial and Andrew was doing another random act of kindness!
I’ll let you decide if Michele and Andrew’s acts of kindness are related and if our experience was karma or the good Lord at work. I’m sure by now, you know what I believe. One thing is for sure, we need more Michele and Andrews in this world!
