Week 57
Positive post Sunday, March 18, 2018- Week 57.
Have you ever truly thought about the difference between needs and wants? During my lenten journey, I came across the saying, “God promises to take care of our needs not our greeds” which really caused me to reflect. Amongst other thoughts, two surfaced to the top. First, my greatest challenge is to determine the difference between the two. What are my real needs, as opposed to the things I just want? I’ve heard it said that we need to stop treating God as if he was a “Genie in the bottle” and seek guidance on the things that really matter, like improving our family, community and spiritual life. The second thing that came to my mind was that I have to ask (or more appropriately stated, pray) for the things that are truly important to me. I’ve heard it said that people will go to the bank to ask for a loan, yet don’t go to God to provide for their needs. I would add that we also have savings accounts at those banks where we entrust them with our money. My challenge to myself and others who accept it, is to improve my investing in the “Bank of God”, where the returns are far greater than financial.
