Week 461
Positive Post Sunday, December 28, 2025…. Week 461. As we approach yet another New Year, setting aside the resolutions that fade by February, here’s a deeper invitation for leaders to stop, reflect, and realign.
True leadership discerns more than talent; it seeks hearts ready to be shaped. When Jesus chose His Apostles, He didn’t select the most polished, influential or powerful; He chose fishermen, a tax collector, and ordinary men whose viability lay in their willingness to follow and learn, not their worldly credentials.
Viability invites humility, it asks, are you teachable, are you faithful, while ability alone can inflate ego and obscure dependence on grace. A viable leader may stumble, but they remain open to transformation. Jesus saw beyond resumes; He saw readiness to surrender, to grow, and to serve. That’s the kind of leadership that builds, not only a strong organization, but more importantly His Kingdom.
So, as we leaders prepare for this New Year, I challenge us to ask ourselves:
What can we learn from Jesus’ intentional, prayerful approach to choosing His “leadership team”?
In our own lives, what qualities do we seek in those we lead, and perhaps even more importantly, in those we choose to follow?
