Week 445
Positive Post Sunday, September 7, 2025…. Week 445. The past few weeks I’ve focused on living a life guided by faith and from the heart, keeping our hearts awake and discerning, even when our bodies are asleep. This, along with experiencing some not so friendly sleep in the past, reminded me of the importance of going to bed with a clear mind and open heart.
The state of our minds and hearts as we lay down to rest doesn’t just shape our sleep, it sets the tone for how we rise. It’s as if the soul continues its quiet work while the body sleeps, preparing us to greet the morning with peace or unrest, depending on what we carried into the night.
Think of bedtime as a threshold, a liminal space between the day’s noise and tomorrow’s promise. If you cross that threshold with gratitude, forgiveness, and trust, you’re more likely to wake up with joy, clarity, and purpose. But if you carry anxiety, resentment, or unresolved tension, it can cloud the dawn.
Here are 3 bedtime rituals I have found helpful in clearing my mind and opening my heart, cultivating a joyful awakening:
• Scripture Meditation: Read a prayer (I recite the Our Father and Hail Mary) and let it echo in our hearts as we drift off.
• Gratitude Reflection: Before sleep, name three blessings from the day. Let our heart rest in thanksgiving.
• Release and Forgiveness: Offer up any burdens or unresolved conflicts in prayer to God. Let go, so our souls can breathe freely.
Plan to wake up with a purpose. When we sleep with a heart aligned to grace, we wake not just rested, but ready to tackle the day. Ready to serve, to create, to love. Ready to live from the center of your heart.
How do you prepare your mind, heart and soul in the evening to wake up happy and with energy?
