Week 422
Positive Post Sunday, March 30, 2025…. Week 422. I humbly accept and embrace the honor of being #2 in my wife’s life, because I know Jesus is #1!
In the tapestry of relationships, few roles are as profound and humbling as that of being second in a spouse’s life when Jesus takes the central place. This unique dynamic, far from diminishing the relationship, enhances it, as faith becomes the cornerstone of a deeper, more meaningful love.
At first glance, being second might seem like a compromise, after all don’t we aspire to be the ultimate priority in our partner’s life? But in a faith-centered marriage like mine, placing Jesus at the helm has created a beautiful order. It anchors our relationship in values of love, forgiveness, humility, and patience (God knows I still have work to do on patience😊).
Like in my relationship, when Jesus is your wife’s number one, it means her love for you is filtered through the lens of Christ’s teachings and life. She seeks to love you as He loves you, unconditionally, sacrificially, and with grace. This divine influence adds strength to our bond, reminding both of us to serve and support each other selflessly.
Being second has also offered us an opportunity for personal growth. It challenges us to reflect on our own spiritual journey and to deepen our relationship with Jesus. Together, we strive to walk in faith, encouraging one another to live with purpose and to nurture a marriage that reflects God’s love.
There’s immense freedom and peace in recognizing that neither partner bears the sole responsibility for the weight of the relationship. By entrusting the center of our marriage to Jesus, we have created a foundation that is unshakable, even in the face of challenges, and God knows we have experienced challenges in our lives. The beauty is that we have faced them together with Jesus as our guide.
So, being second is not a demotion, it’s an honor. It’s a testament to a higher calling, where love is enriched, faith is shared, and every step is guided by the One who unites our hearts in His perfect plan. In this journey, being number two feels a lot like being part of something greater, something eternal.
