Week 411

Positive Post Sunday, January 12, 2025…. Week 411.  While praying and reading by my fire one early morning, I came across the saying, “The truth is always quiet; the lies are always loud.” Although I don’t recall where I read it, a few days later, I watched the movie Jesus Revolution and heard the same quote from the wife of one of the main characters, aging pastor Chuck Smith (played by Kelsey Grammer). She also noted, “The truth is simple.” This made me want to write about truth and lies, so here we go.

In a world where information flows ceaselessly and the volume of voices clamoring for attention is deafening, the adage “The truth is always quiet; the lies are always loud” resonates deeply with me. This saying captures a timeless observation about the nature of truth and falsehood, highlighting the subtlety of authenticity and the often-overwhelming clamor of deceit.

The Quiet Strength of Truth
Truth possesses an inherent strength that does not require loud proclamations or dramatic assertions to be valid. It stands firm on its own merit, grounded in reality, and supported by facts. The quiet nature of truth signifies its reliability and enduring quality. It does not seek attention but rather invites those who seek it to discover its presence.

The quietness of truth can be seen in everyday life. In relationships, it manifests as honesty and integrity, often expressed through simple, sincere actions and words. In science and education, truth emerges through diligent research, thoughtful analysis, and careful consideration of evidence. It is not shouted from the rooftops but is found in the meticulous work of understanding and uncovering knowledge.

The Clamor of Lies
Lies, on the other hand, often need to be loud to capture attention and mask their lack of substance. Deception relies on volume, repetition, and sensationalism to overshadow the quiet certainty of truth. Lies are frequently embellished, dramatized, and broadcasted to drown out opposing voices and create confusion.

The loudness of lies can be observed in various facets of society. In personal interactions, deceit can take the form of elaborate stories and exaggerated claims, designed to manipulate perceptions and emotions.

The Spiritual Side of Truth
From a spiritual perspective, truth holds profound significance. Many religious teachings emphasize the importance of truthfulness and the divine nature of truth. For example, as a Catholic Christian, referencing John 14:6, I believe that Jesus is the way, and the truth and the life. He signifies the ultimate embodiment of truth, truth that is quiet, reflecting the peaceful and unwavering nature of divine wisdom.

In spirituality, truth is often associated with inner peace and alignment with one’s higher purpose. Embracing truth leads to a harmonious and fulfilling life, free from the turmoil and distractions of falsehood. It invites individuals to live authentically, guided by principles of honesty, integrity, and compassion. The quietness of truth.

Why Truth Remains Unchanged
Despite the noise, truth remains unchanged and constant. It does not bend or break under pressure but continues to exist quietly, waiting to be acknowledged. The enduring nature of truth is what ultimately allows it to prevail, even when lies seem to dominate the narrative.

Truth’s quietness also signifies its resilience. It does not need to compete with the loudness of lies because its foundation is solid and unwavering. Over time, truth has a way of surfacing, revealing itself through consistency, evidence, and the passage of time.

Embracing the Quiet
In our quest for understanding and authenticity, it is important to learn to embrace the quietness of truth. This means actively seeking out reliable sources of information, questioning loud and sensational claims, and valuing honesty and integrity in our interactions. It involves listening attentively, thinking critically, and being patient as we discern what is real and true.

As individuals, we can contribute to a culture that values truth by prioritizing sincerity and transparency in our own lives. By doing so, we help create an environment where truth can thrive, even amidst the loud distractions of falsehood.

“The truth is always quiet; the lies are always loud” serves as a powerful reminder to seek out and cherish the quiet strength of truth. In a world where noise often dominates, the quiet presence of truth is a beacon of reliability and authenticity.
