Week 400
Positive Post Sunday, October 27, 2024…. Week 400. As I sat down to write my 400th Positive Post Sunday, a journey of personal, professional, and spiritual growth and meaning, I was humbly filled with immense gratitude and reflection on this journey that began on February 17, 2017. My 1st post was simply, “I’m starting a Sunday tradition of posting a positive message each week” and I posted the photo of the saying from Walt Disney attached (“If you believe in something, believe in it all the way”). Each Sunday since then has been an opportunity to share my faith, a piece of my heart, a slice of wisdom, and a touch of positivity with all those with open hearts and minds.
Here’s the background on how it all started, which incidentally is part of the Forward of the book I hope to write someday titled, “Positive Post Sunday, A Lenten Journey”. Before Lent in 2017, I decided to do something positive for Lent rather than give something up like us faithful Catholics normally do during Lent in anticipation of Easter, the resurrection of Jesus. So, I searched for opportunities to share positivity.
Back then, I began using social media, Facebook to be specific, to stay in touch with my family, especially my son Jeff and his family. They lived in North Carolina and Jeff was in the Army. While interacting back and forth with him for several weeks, I was exposed to the many inappropriate and negative posts, and at that time, many political posts exacerbating an already tense country (sound familiar?). I saw this as an opportunity to fulfill my Lenten commitment by posting positive messages each week during Lent. Well, I did not expect to get so much positive feedback and with the support of many friends and family, I continued to post my Positive Posts Sunday, and as the saying goes, the rest is history. Here we are 400 consecutive weeks later!
Reflecting on my early posts, which were mainly focused on faith and family, I see them as short and targeted seeds of inspiration, planted with the hope of uplifting others. As examples, see Positive Post Sunday…..Week 6 where I discussed that spending time with our children and grandchildren is far more important than spending money on them, or Positive Post Sunday…..Week 9, where on Easter Sunday I focused on Jesus, and suggested we flood all communication channels with positive and thoughtful praise and joy as our savior has risen, Alleluia! Suggesting that we let Jesus be the next friend request we confirm (see the attached sayings from these 2 posts back in 2017).
Over time, along with my passion of writing, those seeds have grown into deep-rooted trees, bearing fruit in the form of insights, encouragement, and love. What started as simple messages have evolved into profound reflections on faith, life, and the human spirit. During these past seven years, I’ve been blessed to witness the power of words and the impact they can have. From stories of everyday heroes to lessons learned from life’s celebrations and challenges, each post has been a step in my own faith journey of growth and understanding.
Through these posts, I’ve come to see the importance of keeping God at the center of our lives. Our material possessions may come and go, but it’s our faith, our love, and the legacy we leave behind that truly matter. This milestone is not just a testament to consistency, but to the deepening of my own spiritual journey, and I hope the journey of those who have read them, and the wisdom gained along the way.
To all those who have read, shared, been inspired by, and most importantly, acted on these posts, thank you for helping me fulfill my commitment during Lent in 2017, a journey of spreading positivity that has endured for 400 straight weeks to date. Your support and engagement have been a source of motivation and joy. As we continue this journey together, may we always strive to grow in faith, spread love, and find meaning in every moment. Thank you, Walt Disney (RIP), for starting my PPS journey 400 weeks ago. I believe in God and his only son our Lord, and I believe in Them all the way!
