Week 40

Positive post Sunday, November 19, 2017-Week 40. 

Do you like your job, are you proud to work for your company? I’m so blessed and fortunate to work for SoCalGas, a company that truly cares about our employees, customers and the communities we serve. These past few days I’ve had the privilege and honor to work side by side with many of our amazing employees and their families and our business partners in support of very important causes that effect millions of our fellow human beings. 

On Thursday we served over 250 meals to Goodwill employees and community supporters at the San Bernardino campus, and saw firsthand how our friends at Goodwill truly, “Transform lives through the power of work”. Goodwill is FAR MORE than just the place where you go to donate used goods. Serving the inspiring and dedicated employees at Goodwill (who would not have jobs without Goodwill) at their annual Thanksgiving lunch is an uplifting experience that has become an annual tradition for many SoCalGas employees. 

On Friday we held our annual Turkey Shoot golf tournament and raised over $57,000 to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fight blood cancers. By yearend we will have raised over $125,000 this year for this amazing organization that supports families dealing with blood cancers and researchers working tirelessly to find more cures. My deepest thanks to all those who contributed.

Yesterday, Michele and I walked with over 900 SoCalGas employees, families and friends (Yes, over 900 representing SoCalGas!) at HomeWalk in downtown LA to support the United Way in addressing homelessness and helping families get shelter and back on their feet. Team SoCalGas led all companies in participation and fundraising, raising over $100,000 this year.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I reflect on how thankful I am to work with such generous and caring colleagues who recognize the value and importance of supporting our communities and do so with pride and passion.
