Week 387
Positive post Sunday, July 28, 2024…. Week 387. As I was scanning through Facebook, looking at my family’s posts, I came across a link to a special appearance on Britain’s Got Talent. A Father, Nick Edwards, was surprised by his mom and his 2 little girls, Savannah and Cali. They started on stage, and called Nick up from the audience to sing one of their favorite songs that he often sings to them at home. His mom noted Nick’s lack of confidence to audition himself, so his family did it for him. He sang his own tear-jerking rendition of “Daddy’s Little Girl” by Arnie Halter, a rendition that resonated with everyone in the audience. There were very few dry eyes, and Nick received yes votes from all four of the judges. Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/4ViqdOMAPOk.
I was deeply moved by the whole experience. Seeing the expression on Nick’s face when he was surprised was priceless, and watching his little girls listening to their daddy sing was heartwarming. His voice carried not just the melody but also the unspoken emotions of a father who clearly adores his daughters. I’ve watched it many times and it always chokes me up as that song brings back many precious memories of my children when they were young and as they grew up, and now my grandchildren.
The love, admiration and sparkle in the girls’ eyes showed their deep love for their dad. Their thoughtful gesture (led by Nick’s mom) and watching Nick sing reminded me of how important and influential a dad is in the lives of his children. When I watch this, it gives me a brief break from this fast paced and often chaotic world we live in, and it reminds me of the importance of my role as a father and grandfather.
I don’t have the courage, or skill, Nick had to step up on that stage and sing without any notice, and I’m sure my family would appreciate me keeping my singing career confined to the shower. However, I will always cherish my time with my children and grandchildren and look for opportunities to share my God given time, talent and treasure with all of them.
