Week 386

Positive post Sunday, July 21, 2024…. Week 386.  While writing my PPS last week, I shared a quote from Mother Teresa, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”  While doing my research, I found another quote that really resonated with me, “Your family isn’t in the way, they are the way.”

As I continued my research, I came across the movie, Unsung Hero.  Both of these quotes have deep meaning in the movie.  They are the foundation on which the movie was built.  Here is the link to an interview that will give you some insight into the film: https://youtu.be/YnnZT8yju50, and here’s a link to the song, Unsung Hero, from For King and Country: https://youtu.be/Favk8UgilZI

I have also attached a photo of the book, Behind the Lights, an inspiring memoir from Helen Smallbone, the mother of seven children, including Christian music artists Rebecca St. James and For King & Country (Helen’s sons Joel and Luke Smallbone).  The song Unsung Hero, recorded by For King and Country, was written about her.  Helen’s memoir chronicles the Smallbone family’s faith journey from Australia to the United States, following the plan God has for them with faith and hope.  It also provides a more accurate and deeper account of the family’s faith journey than the movie, without the Hollywood effect.

I now have a deeper understanding of, and appreciation for, the saying “Your family isn’t in the way, they are the way”.  The story of the Smallbone family and their faith and resilience, is yet another example of the power of God, and how he leads those who follow him with faith and hope.

How have you experienced the power of God within your family – those who are the way not in the way?

Who are the unsung heroes in your life, and how do you recognize them?
