Week 385
Positive post Sunday, July 14, 2024…. Week 385. Although it’s not spring, I feel like I’m doing the writing version of spring cleaning. I’ve had several topics in my queue to write about that I haven’t been able to get to. One of those topics is reducing stress in our lives. Below is a quote from Dr. Sangeeta Rana on stress, and more importantly, about gratitude. I particularly appreciate the beginning, “stop stressing over things, people and situations you can’t control” and her acknowledgement of “how little time you have on this planet”. I am grateful for all I have, especially my Triangle of Life: Faith, Family and Fitness.
For me, the best antidote for stress is staying grounded in The Triangle of Life.
Faith: Prayer and giving our concerns and challenges to God is an empowering way to deal with stress. If we remain focused on our faith and everlasting life, we will not only reduce stress in our lives, but also deepen our spirituality, living the life God has planned for us. As I often do, I turn to the Bible for guidance and understanding. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds me of the power of prayer and the importance of gratitude, and when you bring them together, you find peace and tranquility. Philippians 4:6-7: (6) Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God (7) Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Family: Although at times family can be a source of stress (I know I am for my family on occasion😊), I see family as a source of love and joy, a stress reliever! I also see family as my greatest inspiration and opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. St. Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa) says it best: “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” For me, it all begins at home, Joshua 24:15, (15) …. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
Fitness: The importance of fitness in reducing stress is well documented. Most people think of fitness as only physical, yet mental fitness is equally important. I am living proof that maintaining your physical and mental fitness not only reduces stress, but it can also improve your recovery from injury and illness, and as in my case, it can be lifesaving. I encourage us all to make time in our busy schedules to exercise both our bodies and minds. Our families are counting on us!
How do you seek God’s guidance to reduce the stress in your life during the short time you have on this planet?
How do you show love to your family, and how do you and your household serve the Lord?
