Week 381

Positive post Sunday, June 16, 2024…. Week 381.  Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing fathers who have had a positive influence in my life.  There are many, especially my own father Ken Rendler (also affectionately known as Floyd).  My family and I are so blessed to continue to have GGPA Rendler in our lives, continuing to make memories!  Speaking of memories, I’ve attached three photos, each with four generations of Rendlers.  I am the child in the first one and the grandfather in the last one.  As you might guess, my bucket list includes being here long enough to take the fourth photo where I will be the great grandfather, or better yet start a new tradition with 5 generations including my father!  No pressure Andrew, we just need you to get married and have a son soon (Andrew is only 14) 😊.

Words cannot express how grateful I am for all my father has done for me throughout my life.  His “Triangle of Life” Faith, Love of Family and Work Ethic are, along with Fitness, the pillars of my life.  I am grateful for the many sacrifices he, along with my mother, made to support me throughout my life, often putting my needs ahead of his own.  A blessing of generosity and service that I try to emulate with my 5 wonderful children and 12 precious and energetic grandchildren, all of whom I love very much.

Although they have both returned home to our Lord (RIP), my two grandfathers Dante Pulone and Joseph Rendler hold a very special place in my heart (I was named after them, Daniel Joseph Rendler).  In my early years, I was also fortunate to meet one of my great grandfathers, Granddad (my dad’s grandfather) and “Uncle” Beecher (friends of my mom’s parents).  I have many fond memories visiting Granddad at his home in Eagle Rock and riding bikes from Nana and Papa’s home over to Beecher and Anges’ home in Leisure World.  Speaking of Eagle Rock, as I wrote last week, I’m also grateful for my father-in-law Mike Lomen (see Positive post Sunday, June 9, 2024…. Week 380).

So many more fathers have had an impact on my life, including Dick Whitney, Tom McClinton and several teachers and coaches who helped develop me over the years.  I played many sports in my early years and one of my most cherished photos is the photo of my Tee Ball team, the Knights (see attached photo).  Along with two of my brothers in Christ, Jay McCall and Brian Cameron (See Positive post Sunday, January 7, 2024…. Week 358), are our coaches, my dad on the left and Brian’s dad, Dean Cameron, on the right.  I’m so grateful these two amazing fathers took time out of their busy lives to coach us.

May all those fathers that are still with us have a relaxing and reflective day, and all those who have gone before us be resting in peace with our Lord.  I am, and have been, so blessed and grateful for the positive impact so many fathers have had on my life.  Thank you all!  I’m hopeful I have, and will continue to, pay it forward with my children, grandchildren, and all those I’m privileged to coach and mentor.  Wishing a Happy Father’s Day to my son Jeff Rendler, all my sons-in-laws, my brother Tom Rendler and all my brother-in-laws.  May they enjoy their special day.

I’ve saved the best and greatest father of all time for last!

I’m certain that my own father would agree, there is one father that stands above all fathers, OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVAN!  The father of my savior Jesus Christ.  I can’t think of a better, and more appropriate and inspiring way to start my day than to give thanks to our Holy Father.  So, I begin and end each day with the sign of the cross and saying:
Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us,

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

How are you celebrating the earthly fathers who have had the greatest impact on your life?

How do you give praise to our Holy Father, the father of our savior Jesus Christ?
