Week 375
Positive post Sunday, May 5, 2024…. Week 375. I’m dedicating this week’s PPS to the family of Deputy Tobin Bolter. Deputy Bolter was senselessly killed in the line of duty on April 20th while making a traffic stop on patrol for the Ada County Sheriff’s Department in Idaho. Bolter was the first sheriff’s deputy in the county to be killed in the line of duty. Here is the link to Deputy Bolter’s memorial service: WATCH LIVE: Memorial Service for Deputy Tobin Bolter – East Idaho News.
You might wonder why I see this as a Positive Post. Watch the live streaming of Deputy Bolter’s memorial service and you will understand. Of course, the service was very sad, but what stood out for me was the depth of Deputy Bolter’s faith as expressed by virtually every speaker, many quoting scripture. To quote his wife Abbey, “Tobin loved God”. The retired California Police Chief where Tobin was first hired also noted that Tobin not only accepted the calling to be a police officer to serve and protect, but he also accepted a greater calling, an eternal calling from his savior Jesus Christ. He was clearly a true man of God, who lived a life of service to others and who left his family and friends a legacy of love and forgiveness and a foundation of faith.
I have never met Deputy Bolter, but watching his memorial service strengthened my faith and I suspect brought many others closer to God. Deputy Bolter’s unwavering faith, and the outpouring of support for his family from their community, our law enforcement family, and caring people from around the country, has given me renewed faith in humanity and hope for our future, especially considering the challenging times we live in. This is yet another testimony that Jesus is always present, especially in our darkest and most challenging times.
My prayers are with Deputy Bolter’s family, friends and law enforcement sisters and brothers, including me. May we all find comfort knowing that Tobin is with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, and that through their belief in God and repentance for their sins, his family and friends will someday be reunited with Tobin in heaven.
Rest in peace Deputy Tobin Bolter, my law enforcement brother.
How have you strengthened your faith during your darkest hours?
How has your faith influenced others to believe in our savior Jesus Christ?
