Week 37
Positive post Sunday, October 29, 2017-Week 37.
My family and closest friends know my motto; Faith, Family and Fitness. Today’s post is about family. Yesterday we celebrated the life and accomplishments of a great man, my father in law Mike Lomen. He was honored by being inducted into the Eagle Rock High School Sports Hall of Fame.
As a student, athlete, coach, teacher and administrator at ERHS spanning more than 40 years, he touched the lives of countless young men and women who affectionately called him “Coach Lomen”. It was truly impressive to see and hear first-hand how much respect and admiration his students, athletes, fellow coaches and teachers and administrators had for him. He clearly taught them much more than sports and his coaching went far beyond the field.
I knew Mike for over 35 years, and am eternally grateful for the gift he gave me 34 years ago, his daughter Michele Lomen Rendler’s hand in marriage. He was one of the brightest and most knowledgeable people I have had the pleasure to know and he continues to have my deepest respect. I am certain he was looking down on all of us yesterday with great pride, especially seeing all 6 of his daughters together in his honor. Rest in peace Coach Lomen.
