Week 334
Positive post Sunday, July 23, 2023- Week 334.
Earlier in the week, I heard the song “Teach your children” by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young while flipping through channels on the radio. The title of the song made me reflect back to the early years when Michele and I were raising our children. We taught them many things as they grew up (and now our grandchildren), but did we teach them the most important things?
If you search the internet for “the most important things to teach your children”, there are numerous articles, lists and books on what you should teach your children. As I read through many of the lists, one thing was missing, the importance of teaching our children about God and how to pray. When perusing through the books, there was one book that is essential and foundational for child development that I did not see, the Holy Bible!
I fully recognize and appreciate that there are many important things we need to teach our children to help them grow into responsible and respectful adults, like manners, behaviors and how to turn the other cheek (Melanie, let Joe know that one was for him). At the top of my list is how to pray, having a conversation with God thanking Him for their blessings and turning to Him, not this world, when they are in need. And, my top book is, you guessed it, the Holy Bible, the bestselling book of all times. It is my belief that reading the Holy Bible provides us a roadmap to salvation and ultimately heaven should we live our lives according to God’s will.
