Week 332
Positive post Sunday, July 9, 2023- Week 332.
My “Triangle of Life” was complete this past week. Michele and I were blessed to visit our 2 daughters Heather and Alison and their faith filled and energetic families in Idaho. I have a phone full of photos of memories we created all of which center around the Triangle of Life. I’ve attached just a few that highlight how we experienced Faith, Family and Fitness during our visit. “Raise your hand if you see the cross”!
FAITH: Our faith was ever present throughout our visit. Michele and I began our visit by attending church at Holy Apostles Catholic Church on our first full day in Idaho. We thanked our Lord for safe travel and, in advance, for the quality time we were about to spend with family. While breaking bread together throughout our visit, we said grace before our meals, giving thanks to God for all our blessings. I was also blessed to meet with my brother in faith Jay McCall. My faith is deepened, and my biblical knowledge increased when I spend time with this amazing disciple of Jesus and gifted writer.
FAMILY: With faith as our foundation, our entire visit was filled with quality family time, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Our visit was action packed and began with a big bang, actually several big bangs, as we were treated to an amazing display of fireworks from our daughter’s neighbors. We experienced a local family-based fireworks show that riveled many commercial based shows.
In addition to celebrating Independence Day, Michele and I were so blessed to play with our grandkids in the park filled with foam and a water slide, visit some of the local sights, go on walks and bike rides, spend a day on the greenbelt, tour our daughter’s new home under construction, watch one of Chaddy’s baseball games and go shopping and shooting (Michele did the shopping with the girls and I did the shooting with Pat😊). Although only for a brief visit at the park, we were also blessed to see Roger and Tracy Frey (our extended family in Idaho), her dad and a few friends.
FITNESS: Those that know me won’t find this shocking, but I went bike riding every day, sometimes twice a day (thanks for loaning me your mountain bike Ryan!). I rode by myself early each morning at sunrise, a peaceful time where my mind was free and I took in the amazing sights and sounds in Eagle while giving thanks to our Lord for all his graces. My most memorable rides were the rides with Pat and Liam and with Sean and Chad, quality family time. And let’s not forget the 5K run (walk for me) Michele and I did with Heather and Ryan in their community.
As I reflect on our visit, in addition to feeling abundantly blessed to spend time with our family in Idaho, a few things stood out. First, I am proud beyond words of my daughters and their families. They are all deep in faith, clearly value family and recognize the importance of fitness. Secondly, they live in amazing family-oriented communities with planned activities and where homes are always open, kids can play outside riding their bikes up and down the streets without worry, and people actually wave at you when you drive by and stop to talk to each other when on walks. This all reminded me of how I grew up and how all communities should be.
What is your Triangle of Life and how do you experience and live it?
Who are those special people in your life that complete your Triangle of Life. How do you recognize them?
