Week 321
Positive post Sunday, April 23, 2023- Week 321.
One of my favorite songs is, “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson. If you haven’t done so, I encourage you to read the lyrics and watch the official video (see link below). I reread the lyrics this morning and watched the video, and it literally made me cry. Although, we as a human race have come so far, we still have so much opportunity, and it all starts with looking at the “Man in the Mirror”. When we look at an actual mirror, we see a simple reflection of what is in front of the mirror, our physical body. Have you ever looked deeper into the mirror to see beyond your physical presence? As St. Jerome noted, “The face is the mirror of the mind, and eyes without speaking confess the secrets of the heart.” We are, and can be, so much more than our physical appearances reflect. By looking deeper into our hearts and souls, we will see the true reflections of who we are, disciples of our Lord. The next time you look in the mirror, look beyond your physical presence and find the likeness of our Lord.
What if we were the mirror for others? Would those who stand in front of us see a glimpse, or reflection, of God? If you need to make a change in your life to be a reflection of our Lord for others, remember to start with the man in the mirror. The one person who can change your life (and the lives of others) for the better is staring right at you in front of that mirror. If you look deep enough, with an open heart and mind, you will see our Lord and savior staring right back at you with great humility.
What do you see when you look in the mirror, a glimpse or reflection of God?
What reflection do people see when they stand in front of you?
