Week 308
Positive post Sunday, January 22, 2023- Week 308.
The Responsorial Psalm for this Sunday is from Psalm 27:1, “The Lord is my light and my salvation”. Thinking about the Lord as my light reminded me that it is in darkness (challenging times) that we need light (the Lord) the most. If we look to the Lord, our light, He will guide us through even the darkest days as we navigate our way to salvation. Although the outcome we seek during challenging times may not always be what we had desired or make sense to us at the time, it will always be a part of the overall plan the Lord has for each and every one of us.
Have you ever noticed that a candle appears to shine brighter in greater darkness? Perhaps if we saw the Lord that way, being there even more during our darkest challenges, we would seek His guidance even more deeply during those times of great need.
At Mass last night, Fr. Arinze invited us to identify an area in our lives where perhaps we are experiencing some darkness and would benefit from the light of the Lord. He asked, “What is your candle?”, or might I suggest, “Where do you need the light of the Lord in your life?”. Father suggested areas like Faith, Hope or Love might be areas to consider. He encouraged us to focus on “our candle” for 24 hours, seeking the Lord’s support and guidance.
Where do you need a candle, the light of the Lord, to help you navigate through darkness into light?
How will you reach out to the Lord for support and guidance, exercising the power of prayer?
