Week 294

Positive post Sunday, October 9, 2022- Week 294.

We all have memories of our past, some we wish we could erase or go back in time and change the outcome, but many are fond memories we cherish. For those of us up in years, I find it fascinating to look way back to our childhood and see what we recall from those years so far past. You know, those precious moments both good and bad that have stuck with us throughout our lives. Those experiences we often refer back to with great joy, laughter, sorrow or tears. In all case, these past experiences have shaped who we are and how we think and act today.

Going down memory lane, revisiting our childhood can be both joyous and painful. I was blessed to be raised in a home where there was much joy and little pain. At least from my perspective. I’m sure my parents and siblings might have a different perspective of the balance of pain and joy I caused😊. Since this is a positive post, I’ll stick to the fond memories, of which there are many.

As many of my childhood friends can attest, growing up in the 60’s and 70’s in the Crescenta Valley wasn’t half bad. I have many fond memories from school, church, sports and my neighborhood that I will cherish forever. Too many to list but from St. James to St. Francis, First Communion to Confirmation, tee ball to Connie Mack baseball, Glendale Bears peewee to junior midget football and over 20 years on Maryland Avenue in La Crescenta, I am truly blessed with many fond memories.

I’m not sure about you but I find that as I get older, I look back on my life through a lens of gratitude and appreciation for those who I have been blessed to share my precious childhood with. I was fortunate to grow up in a town where, and a time when, we could leave our doors unlocked, play late into the night, knew all our neighbors, and the list goes on.

My thanks to my mom and dad for raising me in a safe and faithful environment where I could grow and learn, stumble and get back up stronger, and where I had a lot of good old-fashioned fun. I am who I am because of their sacrifices. They are the foundation of my Triangle of Life – Faith, Family and Fitness.
