Week 256
Positive post Sunday, January 16, 2022- Week 256.
I was reflecting on the many saying I have heard over the years and thought I’d have a little fun with my PPS this week. You know, those sayings you heard as a child that didn’t mean much until you actually experienced them throughout your life.
Let’s begin with “Time flies when you’re having fun”. This one sure hits home for me as I just celebrated my 61st birthday and I thought “Growing old would take longer”. However, I will always believe that “Age is only a state of mind”, you know “60 is the new 40”. Besides, I’m blessed with an abundance of children and grandchildren to keep me young.
“It’s not rocket science”, to continue to lead a good life, I just need to remember to stay grounded in the three Fs; Faith, Family and Fitness. For Faith, I need to take my own advice, “As you navigate thru the roads of life, let the good Lord be your GPS”. For family, as I wrote last week, I need to be mindful of how influential I am in the lives of my children and grandchildren. Although many of us have had a bad word we’ve said repeated to us by a young child, we also need to focus on our actions. This reminds me of one of my favorite sayings, “Your actions speak so loud, I can’t hear a word you’re saying”. And finally, Fitness. Our mental and physical health are very important, especially as we age and during these challenging times. This is not a good time to “Wait to cross that bridge when you come to it”. Be proactive with your Fitness and remember “No pain no gain!”
To my family, friends and colleagues, I’d like to share a few of my favorite sayings:
– “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”
– “People see only your behavior not your intentions”
– “A picture is worth 1000 words”
It’s my hope that you all know how much I care about you. My prayers are always with you, and I continue to strive to make my behaviors match my intentions of helping you achieve your goals. This reminds me of one of Benjamin Franklin’s quotes, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”. Also, I feel the need to modernize one saying. In today’s world, it’s now “A video is worth a million words”. With the proliferation of social media and real-time communications, we all need to be mindful of our actions and intentional in our communications.
It’s my intent and hope that these PPS posts have a positive influence on those that choose to take the time to read them. I also hope that you share them. Remember, “Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened”.
Well, I hope you see that “There is a method to my madness” in this PPS and that I “Hit the nail on the head”, at least for those that have experienced as much life as I have. To my grandchildren, a few of whom affectionately call me a Boomer, at this point in your lives you may “take this PPS with a grain of salt”, but as you continue to grow and experience life, many of these sayings will have deeper meaning to you. They tend to “Withstand the test of time”.
A few final sayings, “It ain’t over till the fat lady sings”. She has sung and now the “Ball is in your court” to think about and act on the questions below.
As you navigate thru the roads of life, how are you letting the good Lord be your GPS?
How are you checking in to make sure your actions are consistent with your intent?
How are you using the candle in your life to light the candle of others?
