Week 251

Positive post Sunday, December 12, 2021- Week 251.

Can you believe that there are only 13 days until Christmas?!  I’m guessing that I’ve raised your anxiety about the holiday decorating you haven’t finished, all the shopping you still need to do and the parties you need to prepare to host or attend.

STOP, take a breath, clear your mind and join me in taking a moment to reflect on the Reason for the Season.  Let’s turn that anxiety, and all the hustle and bustle into excitement and anticipation of the birth of our savior, the greatest gift Christians celebrate each year.

So, let’s start this positive post over.  It’s the 3rd week of Advent and only 13 days until we celebrate the arrival of baby Jesus.  What an exciting time filled with joy and anticipation.

As I reflect on the birth of Jesus, I’m reminded of how excited Michele and I were during the days up to the births of our children.  Although many years ago, I remember each of them like it was yesterday.  All the preparation, “nesting” and anticipation of the arrival of each of our 5 gifts from God warmed my heart and gave me great joy.  I knew our lives would be changed forever, and I was filled with hope for our future as we built our family.

Fast forward several years, and with 11 grandchildren that are the center of our lives, Michele and I are expecting our 12th grandchild early next year!  Our daughter Kristy and son in law Matt will be honoring us with our 5th granddaughter.  Like Michele and me years ago, they are very excited and have been preparing for the arrival of their first gift from God with great anticipation, warm hearts and joy.  Their lives too will change forever as they take the first steps in building their family.  May their foundation of faith guide them.

I pray that all Christians see the birth of Jesus in this same way, with warm hearts, filled with joy and appreciation for how this gift we celebrate each year has changed our lives forever giving us a path to everlasting life.

How are you preparing for the celebration of the birth of our savior?

What are you waiting for in your life right now?  How are you preparing?
