Week 207
Positive post Sunday, February 7, 2021- Week 207.
We’ve all heard the saying, nothing ventured nothing gained. When we venture outside our comfort zone we often grow and gain new skills and perspective. And yes, sometimes we make mistakes and even fail. As the late and highly successful University of Alabama head football coach Paul Bear Bryant said, “When you make a mistake, there are only three things you should ever do about it: admit it, learn from it, and don’t repeat it.”
Making mistakes is a part of life and God knows that I have made my fair share of mistakes. The good news is that mistakes are often where we learn the most and have the greatest breakthroughs. It’s been said that your last mistake is your best teacher. One might even argue that we learn more from our mistakes than our successes. If we never fail, we are likely not taking enough risk or achieving our full potential.
Here is a link to an article from Shane Lester, Learning Strategist and founder of Learning Frames, where he provides an overview of his 5 Best Books About Learning from Failure. It’s worth the read. I especially like the book from one of my favorite business authors, John Maxwell titled, “Failing Forward”.
