Week 206

Positive post Sunday, January 31, 2021- Week 206.

In my week 125 Positive post on Sunday, July 7, 2019 and in my week 175 Positive post Sunday on June 28, 2020, I referenced one of my favorite saying by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Your actions speak so loud, I cannot hear what you are saying.”  My version finishes with, I can’t hear a word you’re saying.

In week 125, a year and a half ago, my focus was on a homily delivered by Fr. Tony at an intimate Mass Michele and I attended at the chapel at St. Bernardine’s Hospital with a few of our local medical professionals (may God continue to bless and protect them during these challenging times).  Father Tony’s homily encouraged us to stop making excuses and be the man, women, spouse, parent, Christian and servant of the Lord we were raised to be.

In week 175, I wrote about honesty and truth and walking in the footsteps of the Lord by living a life of integrity and truthfulness.  Matthew 7:16 tells us that we are known by our fruit. Let us be examples of a God of truth and life by living lives of integrity and truthfulness.

Both these PPSs reinforce the importance of our actions not just our words, perhaps even more important today while we continue to manage through the pandemic.  They remind us that, although we may speak the truth, if our actions don’t match, our words are hollow, and we are not being honest or following God’s will.

What opportunities do you have to follow God’s will by backing up your truthful words with your actions?

Where in your life, personal or professional, can you replace excuses with action?  Make the change, take the action.
