Week 202

Positive post Sunday, January 3, 2021- Week 202.

Happy New Year!  I can’t think of a better way to start 2021 than with a prayer.  Especially one that focuses on family, peace and eternal life.  All of which are very important to me and a foundational part of my faith and life.

My FAMILY has been amazing this past year, coming together like no time in history to support each other during some of the most challenging times of our lives.  Ironically, or paradoxically, I’ve never felt closer to all of them during a time when we can’t even be physically together.  I’m so proud of each of them.  Along with my partner in life Michele, my children and grandchildren have certainly given me true joy.  I’m excited to see what 2021 has in store for us.

This past year has been plagued with social justice and inequality concerns.  I have many good, intelligent and faithful friends who have expressed both complimentary and differing perspectives, and I’m hopeful that in 2021 we can all focus on increased awareness of the inherent biases that exist in the world and strive toward increased PEACE through love and respect.

Finally, our time on earth is like the blink of an eye as compared to the life we should all be preparing for, ETERNAL LIFE.  Understanding that life is short, and that we could be called home at any time, I pray that my family and I work hard in 2021 to live our lives in a manner that is pleasing to God and prepares us for when he decides the time is right to welcome us home.

Here’s the link to the prayer, a Prayer Petitions for January 1, 2017 from The Best Catholic.  https://www.thebestcatholic.com/2017/01/01/prayer-petitions-january-1-2017/ .  Although from 2017, one might argue that it is more pertinent today than ever.  Below is the actual prayer.

To Christ, Emmanuel, whom the Virgin conceived and brought forth, let us give praise and pray to him:

Son of the Virgin Mary, hear us.

You gave Mary the joy of motherhood,

— give all parents true joy in their children.

Son of the Virgin Mary, hear us.

King of peace, your kingdom is one of justice and peace,

— help us to seek the paths of peace.

Son of the Virgin Mary, hear us.

You came to make the human race the holy people of God,

— bring all nations to acknowledge the unifying bond of your love.

Son of the Virgin Mary, hear us.

By your birth you strengthened family ties,

— help families to come to a greater love for one another.

Son of the Virgin Mary, hear us.

You desired to be born into the days of time,

— grant that our departed brothers and sisters may be born into the day of eternity.

Son of the Virgin Mary, hear us.

What is your prayer to 2021?

How will you help your FAMILY grow together in 2021?

What will you do in 2021 to help promote PEACE?

How are you preparing for when the good Lord calls you home to EVERLASTING LIFE?
