Week 200

Positive post Sunday, December 20, 2020- Week 200.

Today is a milestone, my 200th straight PPS (with help from family members during the early stages of my recovery from my accident).  I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to recognize my wife Michele for her service to the students, teachers, staff and administration of the Redlands Unified School District (RUSD), and our overall community.

After a socially responsible campaign during unprecedented times, and with the support of MANY family, friends, community leaders and community-based organizations, Michele was elected to the RUSD Board of Trustees.  She was sworn in this past Tuesday.  I am certain she will continue to serve with the same modesty, integrity, passion and commitment she has demonstrated over the past 25+ years of service within our educational system and most recently as she completed a year on the RUSD Board of Trustees after being appointed in October 2019.  She is a true savant leader, who never seeks recognition nor loses sight of the purpose of her service.  As she likes to say, “It’s for the kids”!

My sincere and heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes to ALL those who supported and voted for Michele.  Our family is deeply indebted to you for offering us the opportunity to continue our service to our community, in this case, Michele serving on the RUSD Board of Trustees.  I can assure you that you will not find a more humble, dedicated or committed Board Member.  I have personally seen her preparing for Board meetings late into the evening, connecting parents, guardians and students to school resources at all hours of the day and night and visiting schools and attending events (virtually and when safe in person) to support and recognize students and teachers.

The education of our children is absolutely critical for the future health of our communities.  We are blessed to have a faithful and resourceful Board member who is guided by our Lord and focused on providing the governance, leadership and support needed to find innovative ways for our students to safely continue their education and achieve their academic goals during these unprecedented times.

As noted in Proverbs 11:14, For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.  The same is true for our educational system.  Please keep Michele in your prayers and support and advise her so she can be victorious for the children in our community.

How do you serve your community?  Do you do so humbly and without concern for recognition?
