Week 180

Positive post Sunday, August 2, 2020- Week 180.

Have you ever felt like your life is a tug of war?  Or, like the line in Desert Rose Band’s song One Step Forward, “one step forward two steps back, nobody gets too far like that”.  Or, like I’ve felt many times when cycling, will this hill I’m climbing ever end!

Here’s some perspective that might give you hope and cheer you up.  When thinking of the tug of wars you face in your life, consider not picking up the rope and staying focused on the things that are truly important to you and bring you closer to God.  This may relieve some of the tension in your life.

I enjoy listening to the Desert Rose Band’s song, and in my early years I could do the line dance without tripping over my feet.  However, I’d change the lyrics to “two steps forward one step back”, and then everyone would get somewhere like that!  Success comes from perseverance, keep on stepping!

Likewise, keep on riding.  Although, like when I ride my bike up a killer hill, life can feel like an endless climb.  Take time to appreciate the amazing views along the way.  When you crest the peaks, pause and recognize your milestones.  When you finally reach the top, look back with pride on your achievement, give thanks for your blessings and look for your next hill to climb.

We all face tug of wars, backward steps and climbs throughout our lives.  How we manage through and learn from our life experiences will ultimately define us and our character.  With God’s grace, we will make choices that prepare us for everlasting life when the good Lord calls us home.

How do you handle the challenges in your life?  Do you pick up the rope or leave it and focus on the important things in your life?  When life requires you to take one step back, do you take at least two steps forward?  Do you keep climbing, pacing yourself along the way appreciating the beauty on the roads you travel?
