Week 170

Positive post Sunday, May 24, 2020- Week 170.

Each week, in preparation for writing my Positive Post Sundays, I pray for guidance, read a lot, observe what’s happening in our communities and around the world and listen to the challenges and successes of family, friends and colleagues.  Each of these sources, prayer being the most influential, give me a steady stream of ideas and the inspiration to write.

Although guided by the influences above, most of my writing is original, occasionally sharing quotes, photos, and links to support or accentuate a point.  It is not often that I find an article that mirrors what I was planning to write, but that happened this week.  I encourage you to read the short but impactful articles in the two links below by Robert Glazer,

This link titled, “Inevitable Winter”, draws the analogy of preparing for winter, which comes each year, and preparing for crises which inevitably will also occur throughout our lifetimes.  Glazer notes that many of us were not adequately prepared for the current COVID-19 pandemic and suggests we think about what we would do differently in preparation for the next crisis.  https://www.robertglazer.com/friday-forward/financial-responsibility/

This link titled, “Lasting Effect”, acknowledges this crisis will be a defining moment for many organizations and leaders and the importance of our behavior, which people will remember for a long time.  He shares a short story that reminds all of us of the importance of honesty and integrity, especially during times of crisis.   https://www.robertglazer.com/friday-forward/lasting-effect/

I have personally observed, and planned to write about, how individuals, organizations and companies show their true character in times of crisis, in this case a pandemic.  Many of you have heard me say, “I’ve seen the best and worst of humankind during this crisis”.  If you read the articles, I’m sure you will agree that Glazer’s writings cover this well.  As always, I pose a few questions for your consideration.  Read the articles and you’ll have a deeper understanding of these questions.

What lessons are you learning about your behavior and actions during this pandemic? Any adjustments needed?

How will you feel about the actions you have taken during this pandemic in 10 minutes, 10 days, and 10 years?
