Week 167
Positive post Sunday, May 3, 2020- Week 167.
I’ve set many goals in my life, most related to sports, work and family. With the support of teammates, coaches, colleagues and family, and most importantly, with the grace of God, I have been blessed to achieve many of my goals. With almost 6 decades under my belt, as expressed on the Wide World of Sports, I’ve experienced both the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat many times throughout my life. Whether or not I achieved a particular goal, I certainly learned from the pursuit of each and every one. All the experiences, both good and bad, have helped me grow both personally and spiritually.
As I look back over the years, I do so with fond memories, pride and humility. I am deeply grateful to all those who have had an influence in my life, and there have been many. But what excites me the most, is looking forward with hope and anticipation and with a toolbox full of life experiences to share with others as they pursue their goals.
If I were to take an inventory of my life, I’m certain that I have received far more than I have given. Although I am very grateful for all I have received, I’m at a point in my life where I understand and truly believe that I am far more blessed by giving than by receiving. I have also grown to learn that the most important giving is not monetary or material, but the giving of one’s self and time.
Only God know how much time we have here on earth to give to others, and as Grant Waldo Emerson stated, it is not length of life but depth of life that will define the positive impact we have on others. I have a lot of catching up to do to achieve my life goal of “Giving back more than l receive over my lifetime”.
What is your life goal?
Do you give as much as your receive?
