Week 165
Positive post Sunday, April 19, 2020- Week 165.
I hope, like my family and I, you enjoyed celebrating Easter, albeit in a very unique way, attending Mass once again virtually. Rather than returning to writing about our real and continued challenges with COVID-19, I decided to take a break and write about Spring. Yes, I know, with all the cold weather and rain it certainly doesn’t feel like Spring, which started back on March 19th. For my family and friends in southern California, warm weather is on the way mid-week, which I am hopeful will also help our fight against the virus!
We are all familiar with the term spring cleaning, the time of year when we clean our homes, garages or offices as we transition from the cold weather of winter and prepare for the warmer climate in summer. This is a time many of us look forward to with great anticipation. I’d like to introduce a similar, but more spiritual springtime ritual, “Spring Cleansing”, a time following the joyous resurrection of Jesus, when we can all cleanse and refresh our souls, recommitting to our relationship with the good Lord. In the same way many of us cleanse our bodies with natural juices, vegetables and herbs, we can also cleanse our souls by removing impurities and negativity through prayer and acts of kindness with grace and humility.
As you prepare for summer, and hopefully responsibly returning to our new normal, how will you cleanse your soul and strengthen your relationship with God?
