Week 151
Positive post Sunday, January 5, 2020- Week 151.
2019 is now in the books and 2020 has already begun. Although tempted to write about all the successes and challenges in 2019 or share my “New Year’s resolutions” for 2020, I have chosen a different path to kick off 2020.
Over the holidays, I reread the “Triangle of Life”, the gift I wrote and presented to my children and grandchildren on Christmas day in 2017 (see PPS weeks 46, 47 and 48). I hope Heather , Stacy, Jeffrey, Alison, and Kristy still have it and are sharing it with my grandchildren as they grow up. You may recall that the 3 legs of the triangle are Faith, Family and Fitness (my dad, Ken Rendler, would replace Fitness with Work, recognizing the importance of having a good job to support the family).
My intent in writing the Triangle of Life was to offer my family thoughts and tips for living a faithful, family oriented and healthy life that I have gathered from experiences throughout my life, especially while raising my children and grandchildren with my wife Michele Rendler. It’s my hope that they use it to help guide their lives and the lives of my grandchildren, and hand it down to our future generations. This was also what gave me the inspiration to write my Positive Post Sundays. I hope they use my posts as a resource throughout their life journeys and that someday one of them continues the tradition. This world we live in can certainly use more positive messaging, sharing the many blessings we have while acknowledging and learning from the challenges we face throughout of lives.
The first leg of the Triangle is Faith. In the letter I wrote to my children in 2017, I encouraged them to join me in conducting a “Faith Checkup” at the end of each year to evaluate how well we are leading our lives with faith as our foundation, and most importantly to make any adjustments needed to keep us on ours paths to everlasting life. It is our faith that gives meaning and purpose to our lives, and as we kick off 2020, I pray that all my children and grandchildren place faith front and center in their lives and see a Faith Checkup as important as a Health Checkup.
Is it time for you to conduct a Faith Checkup? What course corrections might you need in your life journey to help guide you toward everlasting life?
