Week 246

Positive post Sunday, November 7, 2021- Week 246.

Good morning!  Did you remember to turn your clock back last night?  If not, you have an extra hour this morning that you didn’t expect to give thanks to the Lord!

Thinking about day light savings time reminded me about how precious time is and how important it is to use it wisely and spend it with those we love.  Afterall, time does not stand still for anyone and none of us are guaranteed to have a tomorrow.  I don’t say this to depress us, but rather to motivate us to be thoughtful and intentional on how we use our limited time here on earth.

As Jonathan Estrin notes, the way we spend our time defines who we are.  In addition to counting my blessings, surviving my recent cycling accident (a near death experience) also made me rethink how I spend my time.  I’m hopeful that how I spend my time defines me as a man with unwavering faith in God, a loving family man and a community servant!

Although we get to turn our clocks back for an hour each year, we don’t have the luxury of turning back time to change the past challenges and disappointments we have faced or the mistakes we have made in our lives, and we ALL have them.  What we do have is the power of forgiveness and control over how we spend our present time and the opportunity to shape our futures!

As they say, we aren’t getting any younger, and although I feel age is only a number, I do feel like time flies.  But, as Michael Altshuler notes, the good news is that I’m the pilot.  I’d add that although I’m the pilot, God is my beacon who guides me through the thickest of fog in my life helping me land the plane safely as I travel on my journey to everlasting life.  All at his will and on his timeline.

How will you use your extra hour today? Say a prayer for someone in need, call a loved one, make a difference in someone’s life!

If the way we spend our time defines who we are, who are you?

How are you letting go of the challenges in your past, making the best of your present and shaping your future?
