Week 133

Positive post Sunday, September 1, 2019- Week 133.

Have you ever heard or said, “I can never find enough time to do that” or “There’s never enough hours in the day”?  Like I expect is that case with many of you, I struggle with days that appear to get shorter and time that appears to go faster.  I even started to entertain the theory that as you get older, time goes faster, until I was reminded that there are still 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week.  I could still argue that the older we get the less time we have left here on earth.

As I was thinking about all this, my first inclination was to write about time management.  Maybe provide a few tips from the FranklinCovey Time Management Fundamentals course or write about how to get the most out of your day.  There is certainly not a shortage of time management systems, courses and tips to share.  We have all heard tips like, time is limited so use it wisely, work smarter not harder and set priorities each day.  One thing is certain, in today’s world where just about anything is only a click away, we are easily distracted and entertained, which makes it very difficult to manage our time wisely.

All that being said, and after thinking more deeply, I decided to write about “life management” not just time management.  I started asking myself questions like, What and who is most important to me?  What are my core values and goals in life?  And, most importantly, how many of the 24 hours in each day and 7 days in each week am I focused on those I love, living my core values and pursuing my life goals?  My answer is, not enough.  However, asking myself these questions has been empowering and reminded me that my “life management” skills can use some improvement.  It is clear to me that redirecting some of my time to my Faith and Family will help me reach my ultimate life goal, earning life everlasting with the good Lord.

What and who is most important to you?  What are your core values and goals in life?  Does how you spend your time bring you closer to those you love and achieving your life goals?  If not, empower yourself and redirect your time accordingly.
