Week 132

Positive post Sunday, August 25, 2019- Week 132.

Have you ever said or heard someone say, “honestly”, or “to tell you the truth” at the beginning of a statement and wondered, were they not telling the truth the rest of the time?  I try to refrain from using both of those phrases and instead work hard at being honest and clear in my communications all the time.  Although this seems simple and I’d like to think I am always honest, like most areas in our lives there is always room for improvement.

I find it important to remind myself that it is not just what I say that matters.  We’ve all heard the saying, “talk is cheap”, which is a subtle reminder of how important it is that our actions are representative of our honest and truthful communications.  1 John 3:18 says it best, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth”.

The beauty of speech and action is that it does not discriminate.  It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, rich or poor, educated or not, we all have the same opportunity to speak and act with honesty and truthfulness.  How we choose to speak and act establishes our credibility, determines our integrity and ultimately defines who we are.

How do you want to be seen, or remembered?

Will you leave a legacy of truth and honesty for your family?
