Week 112
Positive post Sunday, April 7, 2019- Week 112.
Papa’s “Top 10”! Julie Leconte’s response to last week’s PPS, “I find the work of God every day when I look into the eyes of the ones I love” inspired me to write about my Top 10. No, not my list of top 10 songs or my 10 favorite sports teams and certainly not David Letterman’s infamous top 10 list. My Top 10 are my grandchildren; Nikole, Kendall, Christian, Andrew, Sean, Chad, Austin, Aubrey, Liam and Juliana.
Along with Michele and our kids, my 10 grandchildren are the center of my life and to paraphrase what Julie said so eloquently, I see the masterful work of God every time I look into their eyes. They are my pride and joy and they keep me young and on my toes. They make me laugh, and at times cry, and always keep my body and mind active. They are energetic and inquisitive (I have been asked “why” well over 1,000 times – mostly by Sean). They are like gems, each one is unique with their own special qualities and personality. In a word, they are priceless. I am so blessed.
Although early in their years (very early for Ani😊), it warms my heart to see how thoughtful and caring they are towards others. I’m certain that being raised with a foundation of faith will guide them through their lives and help them navigate through the many challenges life will throw their way. We live in a complex, diverse and ever-changing world and as long as the good Lord keeps me on this earth, I will continue to support and guide my Top 10, sharing my experiences and helping them stay connected to the pillars of life; Faith, Family and Fitness (the Triangle of Life). I also anticipate my top 10 will grow in numbers over time, and I look forward to welcoming the new blessed additions to our family with the same open arms, excitement and love, and support provided to all the others.
My prayer for my grandchildren:
“Heavenly Father, thank you for blessing me with amazing grandchildren. Please watch over and protect all of them as they grow up. Help them build a foundation of faith that will guide them through their lives and aid them in making good faith-based decisions and choices. Help them excel in their studies and follow their dreams, reminding them that whatever path they choose in life to always be humble, kind and generous to others. For it is through service to others that we find true happiness and fulfillment in our lives. Like all of us, they will stumble at times. Please pick them up and guide them back to you when they fall or stray.
Please also bless their parents with your grace and give them the patience, fortitude and spirituality needed to raise their children in your likeness. Through your great glory, may all my children and grandchildren be blessed with the ability and desire to actively engage in their faith by participating in services and sharing their time, talents and treasures which will lead them closer to you. In your name I pray.”
