Week 106

Positive post Sunday, February 24, 2019…. Week 106.

It was time to practice what I preach this past week.  In Positive Post Sundays 34 and 53 I suggested that if you have friends that have moved, stop saying you’re going to visit them and DO IT!  So, Michele Lomen Rendler and I went on a road trip this week and visited a few friends that have moved.

Earlier in the week, we visited Gene and Nikki Pearlman, our next-door neighbors who moved to Henderson, Nevada 8 years ago.  Yes, it took us 8 years to get there, but it was terrific to see them, reminisce about the past and see their beautiful home.  What an amazing community with tons of amenities and activities for active seniors and their families (love that community clubhouse)!

From Henderson, we drove in the snow up to St. George, Utah for our 3rd visit with our dear friends Kathy and Harry Sullivan “Harvey”.  Not only were we welcomed once again by their world class hospitality but we were also welcomed by light snowfall following some heavy snow the days before.  Pictures simply can’t do justice to the incredible views of snowcapped mountains surrounding the valley.  As Michele noted, the mountains looked fake and as if an artist had painted beautiful snowcapped mountains all around the valley.

We once again had a wonderful time visiting and touring some amazing homes on the Parade of Homes in St. George.  We talked for hours about old times at the Gas Company and our LARGE families who are our greatest pride (we’re expecting another grandchild and the Sullivans another great grandchild shortly).  We were also blessed to have our friends Jim and Dana Gourley join us for dinner, another remarkable couple.  We all reminisced about the good old days and friends, many of whom have gone before us.  Thinking of the many great family members and friends that have gone on to be with the good Lord reminded me of how precious time is and how grateful I am to have such wonderful friends like the Sullivans, Gourleys and Pearlmans.  It also reminded me of the song, “I have friends in high places” by Larnelle Harris.  It’s a very moving song that will really make you think about how important and valuable friends are to all of us.  It’s worth a listen.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsUFT6d8q2w

So, “who are the Sullivans, Gourleys and Pearlmans in your life?”.  If you haven’t visited them in a while, go visit them.  Your time together will be like ours has been, “Priceless”!
