Week 101
Positive post Sunday, January 20, 2019- Week 101.
With this being my 101st Positive Post Sunday, I thought I would write about God 101. You know, like in school when you took Math 101 or English 101. The courses where you learned the basics about a subject. To my fellow believers, I ask, if you were to teach a God 101 course, what would you have in your curriculum? You may start with, who is God or does God really exist. You might reference what the Bible says about God, and have a section on where we see God in our everyday lives.
Well, I decided to do a little research and I came across a book titled Knowing God 101 by Bruce Bickel and Stan Jantz. This is a good read for those exploring the existence of God all the way up to those seasoned Christians who want to review the basics. I found it to be a helpful reminder of why I am a Christian and a useful tool for helping others get to know God better. Another terrific book is, Who is God? by Christopher A. Smith. Smith takes a seemingly simple yet complex question and makes it relatable and easy to see who God is and what role He wants to play in our lives. And finally, for my fellow Catholics, or those interested in the faith, I also found the book titled Catholicism for Dummies. It can be humbling and insightful to read a book about the basics of the faith you have lived your entire life.
In closing I ask a few simple yet very deep questions. How well do you know God? Are you living a life that is pleasing to God?
God Bless!
