Week 348
Positive post Sunday, October 29, 2023- Week 348.
A lesson in patience from a patient. God gave me many gifts but, as my family will attest, patience was not one of those gifts. Last week, I learned firsthand that patience can be a virtue.
Monday morning, as I have done many times, I arrived early at the blood lab to be first in line for a blood draw so I could get to work. As I was quietly waiting by myself for the receptionist to show up, a group of patients showed up in line behind me. However, one loud woman walked right in front of me to the front of the line, and when the receptionist showed up, the lady walked right up to her ahead of me never saying a word.
At this point, my attitude and behavior would normally shift into impatience mode, blood pressure rising, stressed about getting to work, wondering why this lady walked right in front of me as if I wasn’t even there. I’ll consider it divine intervention, but a calmness came over me and I simply checked in with the receptionist and sat down in the waiting room behind the lady.
Right when I said a brief prayer thanking the Lord for giving me the patience to not say anything, the phlebotomist called the lady’s name and she turned around and with a pleasant and grateful smile on her face, she thanked me for letting her go first. It was at that point I realized the Lord had responded to my prayer.
And, just to make sure I heard Him, the Lord sent me another message. There are several phlebotomists at the lab in the morning, and who called the “second” patient up? You guessed it, my favorite phlebotomist called my name! The one who completes her work with love and care and inflicts the least amount of pain😊. God is good!
Who would have thought that a visit to a phlebotomist could be a spiritual experience? Patience can truly be a virtue! Michele would be proud of me😊.
Where could you use more patience in your busy life?
How has God rewarded your patience?
