Week 356

Positive post Sunday, December 24, 2023- Week 356.

I love music, especially music with deep meaning. See Positive post Sunday, October 8, 2023…. Week 345.

I thought I’d have some fun with this Christmas Eve PPS. Lighten it up a bit. One of my favorite holiday traditions is listening to Christmas music, especially songs that remind me of the one and only reason we celebrate CHRISTmas, to recognize, appreciate and express our humble gratitude for the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ.

I’m dating myself, but back in the day we listened to music on 8 track tapes and cassettes (my kids and grandkids will need to google those😊). And, although we still have CDs today, our kids and grandkids now have playlists and stream our favorite Christmas songs.

I guess I’m old school, because I love listening to Christmas songs on the radio, especially with all the driving I do this time of year. When we approach December each year (now as early as November), I look forward to, with great anticipation, the time when KOST 103.5 and KSGN 89.7 start playing Christmas songs. There’s just something soothing and relaxing about listening to Christmas music. It takes me down memory lane and reminds me of so many fond experiences I have had during the holidays, all the way back to my childhood when we calibrated with my parents and grandparents.

Here’s the fun part. Below are my top 10 favorite Christmas songs and favorite singers of each song. As you might expect, most of these songs are about the coming of Jesus our savior.

1) Mary, Did You Know?- Pentatonix (love this group)

2) Little Drummer Boy- Pentatonix again

3) The First Noel- Frank Sinatra, love the lyrics

4) Away in a Manger- Nat King Cole, the lyrics say it all

5) Oh Come All Ye Faithful- Josh Groban, keeps me grounded on the reason for the season

6) Hark the Herold Angel Sings- Amy Grant

7) God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman- Bing Crosby

😎 White Christmas- Bing Crosby, all Bing songs remind me of my childhood and grandparents

9) The Christmas Song- Nat King Cole

10) It’s the Most Wonderful Time of The Year- Andy Williams
