Week 351
Positive post Sunday, November 19, 2023- Week 351.
The last 4 weeks have been very challenging as I continue to recover from an injury. No, not another bike accident
, a very painful hamstring injury from a work softball tournament. I can ride my bike for 100 miles with relative ease, but I guess my days of gliding around the bases like I did in my 20s and 30s is over
. I sure wish I stuck to my plan to use a courtesy runner! Although Iâm SLOWLY recovering, my biggest challenge continues to be the lack of sleep overnight.
By now, youâre likely wondering why this is a POSITIVE post. Well, with all the sleep deprivation, I have had more time for personal reflection and prayer in the wee hours of the night and early mornings. A few days ago, in the middle of the night while trying to take my mind off the pain, I reflected on my recent PPS posts and prayed, seeking Godâs guidance for this PPS.
After falling asleep for a few hours, I woke up reciting the words “Walk in His path” over and over again silently in my mind. I could hear and feel the words vividly, as if God was saying them to me in response to my request for guidance. Itâs hard to explain, but I felt a sudden warmth, and for a few minutes my pain subsided, and I accepted the invitation, or reminder, from God to live my life following the path His son, our Lord Jesus has paved for us all. What a blessing to wake up in peace rather than pain.
As I often do, I turned to the Bible for guidance and insight. As you might expect there are many references to walking in Jesusâ path. Hereâs one of my favorites: Proverbs 3: 5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence do not rely; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths.
Over the last few days, Iâve been reflecting on this experience, asking myself how I have been âWalking in His pathâ. Like all my fellow sinners, I have room for improvement. Leading a Christ-like life, serving and sacrificing for others, proclaiming His Word and helping others deepen their faith as we all prepare to be with Our Father who art in Heaven is a lifelong journey. A journey I welcome with an open heart and compassion.
Where in your life have you turned pain into peace through prayer?
How has your path been straightened by placing your faith in the Lord?
